the brief.

For an interview feature in TFB Magazine, I was commissioned to create the cover image and accompanying editorial photography for Mila.Vanillaa: a hairdresser, shop owner, and outspoken sex-positive POC whose work sits at the intersection of craft, identity, and community.

The brief called for imagery that felt honest and unapologetic, aligning with TFB Magazine’s mission to spotlight voices and practices that push beyond convention. Rather than stylising the subject, the focus was on presence: capturing Mila in a way that reflects both her confidence and the nuance of her perspective.

The resulting images balance intimacy and strength, designed to function both as a striking cover and as part of a broader editorial narrative.

The feature appeared in print and online, distributed internationally through TFB Magazine’s channels in Atlanta and Amsterdam, situating the work within a publication that treats fashion imagery as cultural documentation rather than decoration.
