I’m Casper (aka the Friendly Bastard).

I’m a creative director using photography, video production and brand & graphic designer based in Utrecht, the Netherlands (available worldwide!), and the founder of friendly.bastard Studio.

Starting out cutting hair at Kinki Kappers, my interest in creative expression though hair, art and creating visuals grew fast.

Since, I’ve spent nearly 2 decades as a creative hairdresser, educator, artistic team member and as a creative director. In this time I found my passion for creating and collaboration.

That means I know how to spot details while keeping in mind the big picture, work with crews, cooperating with other artists and bring concepts to life.

Now I use that eye to create visuals for brands, magazines, businesses, and artists using photography, video production, brand & graphic design. I’m involved from concept to execution, making sure each project has a clear idea behind it.

My work is often bold, creative, and conceptual. I work mostly with creative lighting techniques, in-camera effects, and working with color.

I’m drawn to visuals that feel intentional and slightly off-center, where mood and concept carry as much weight as aesthetics.

Growing up with the name Casper meant hearing the same joke over and over again: “like the friendly ghost, right?” For a long time, it felt like something that defined me before I had the chance to define myself. Now, I’ve reclaimed the name, but with a twist.

The Friendly Bastard is about holding two truths at once. Being warm, open, and collaborative without pretending, sugarcoating, or playing nice at the expense of honesty.
